Snorkeling FAQs

Snorkeling FAQs

1. What’s the itinerary?
We don’t believe in ‘one size fits all’ or providing ‘canned’ trips. We customize each snorkel tour depending on what your group is interested in. You can spend as little or as much time in the water as you like at each stop–we’re flexible. You could even decide to finish your tour with a little sightseeing, time permitting.
2. Why do you only offer private charters?
We offer trips that we would want to take-less crowded, more autonomy, and customized service. In other words, we don’t like to be rushed, crowded, or herded like sheep.
3. Won’t I pay more for a private charter?
If you are a party of 1-3, yes our price is slightly higher-but you will have more space and attention on your excursion. We have a value advantage as your party moves closer to our max limit of 8 as each additional person is only $30. When you check prices ask about park fees and gear rental–both are always included in our price–they can add up quickly.
4. What if I’ve never snorkeled before?
Then you’ve come to the right place. Our private, small group snorkel tours allow our guides to spend time with you and teach you everything you need to know–it’s all about you, not a timeline.
5. Do you provide snorkel gear?
Yes, we have new snorkel equipment from Mares that we sanitize after each use. We also have a snorkeling float that allows you to see underwater without submerging your face.
6. Are the sharks dangerous?
No, the sharks you will snorkel with are nurse sharks–kind of like giant catfish. But as with all marine life we recommend maintaining a respectful distance.
7. How long is the tour?
Half day is 3-3 1/2 hours, full day is 7-7 1/2 hours.
8. What should I bring?
We always recommend towels and sunscreen–we’ve got everything else covered. Cameras and Go-pros are always welcome.
9. Is this tour appropriate for small children?
Yes, with adult supervision. We find that kids like the pontoon boat as they have more room to move around.
10. Will I have to jump over the side of the boat to get in the water?
No, we have two points of water entry. The first is a ladder off the back of the boat which you can climb down at your own pace. The second is the large deck on the front of the boat where jumping in feet first is appropriate.
11. Is the boat hard to get in and out of?
No, we have found that pontoon boat is very easy to get on and off. It has actually allowed people with different levels of mobility to enjoy a day on the water.
12. How does the pontoon boat handle in the ocean?
She handles very well with a smooth, comfortable ride. The cushioned seats aren’t necessary, just an added bonus.
13. Will you pick us up?
Yes, we provide complimentary pick up service at your dock for all resorts and homes within 2.5 miles from town center. If you are further than 2.5 miles a fuel surcharge will apply–please contact us with your location and we can provide the exact surcharge.
